BLUE VIOLET (VIOLA ODORATA)

6.95

A true harbinger of spring, violet is one of the earliest flowers to emerge in the the spring. Considered a nutritive herb, the leaves have a very high minerals and vitamin content and are often made into a nourishing infusion, steeped overnight. The young leaves are edible and are a nutritious addition to a wild salad.  Known for its affinity for the breasts, an infused oil of the leaves and flowers makes a wonderful breast massage oil, helping move and clear the lymph.  Excellent for building soil fertility, violet is a dynamic accumulator, meaning it accumulates trace minerals and deposits them into the soil when it dies back each year, thereby making them more available in the soil and to the surrounding plants.  Prefers cool, moist, shady environments, but very tolerant a variety of soil conditions, including full-sun. Makes a nice “living mulch.” Low-growing.  Hardy perennial to Zone 5.
