CODONOPSIS/ DANG SHEN (CODONOPSIS PILOSULA)

8.95

A tonic herb from the Traditional Chinese Medicine materia medica, codonopsis is sometimes known a “poor man’s ginseng”, and much easier to grow as well!  This diminutive and dainty vine produces medicinal roots that have a sweet flavor and are often added to stocks and soups.  A nutrative and adaptogenic herb, codonopsis helps build energy, strengthen the immune system, and balance the endocrine system.  Tolerant of a wide-range of soil conditions, this plant prefers rich, loose and moist soil in full sun to part shade. Be sure to give it something to climb on (another plant, tree or shrub will do).  Hardy perennial to Zone 5.
