Lemon Balm is an Old World herb garden must. Melissa means bee in Greek, and this plant really draws bees and other pollinators to the garden, and tastes amazing when prepared with honey- make an infused honey, elixer, mead or simply add honey to pure lemon balm tea, amazing.  A valuable medicinal, it is especially supportive during times of grief and heartache and has a calming and nourishing effect on the nervous system.  Also often used to enhance memory and focus, the essential oil has shown some good results in the treatment of Alzheimers.  Delicious-tasting and enjoyed by children, Lemon Balm is also known for its strong anti-viral properties and most useful in treating colds and other viral infections.  Easy to grow.  Harvest just before it flowers and it will grow back and you’ll get two harvest a season this way- just be sure to let some go to flower for the bees!  Prefers full sun to part shade and regular soils.  Plant 1 ft apart.  Grows to 1-2 ft in height.  Hardy perennial to Zone 4.
