Famed culinary herb and also a prized medicinal that adds grace to any herb garden.  Intensely aromatic, Rosemary makes a wonderful digestive stimulant and addition to a bitters formula.  Old World medicinal found in every monastery herb garden that has an affinity for the nervous system and increasing mental acuity, focus, attention span, and memory.  Also a warming circulatory stimulant that can be used both internally as a tea or tincture and externally as a oil, salve or liniment.  Specific for headaches, especially when combined with lavender and peppermint.  Also a potent anti-microbial that can be used topically, to disinfect wounds and prevent infection, and internally as well.  Delicious in mediterranean food and is truly the definition of “food as medicine.”  Easy to grow in the garden or containers. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil.  Perennial to Zone 7.  Not cold-hardy in our climate, but may be potted up and brought inside for the winter or overwintered in a greenhouse or hoophouse.
