WOOD BETONY (STACHYS OFFICINALIS)

8.95

Nice nervine relaxant with a reputation for treating headaches and migraines.  Bitter and warming in nature it makes a nice tonifying digestive herb as well.  The fresh leaves are used as medicine, often as a tincture or tea.  There is lots of lore associated with this plant, including the ability to ward off malevolent spirits.  Fresh leaves yield a pale yellow dye.  Bears magenta spikes of flowers in the spring, reaching 2-3 ft in height.  Space 2 ft apart.  Prefers full sun to part shade and moist soil, but will grow in regular garden soil just fine. Hardy perennial to Zone 4.
