Welcome to the Milk & Honey Herbs Medicinal Plant Nursery!

St Johnswort (Hypericum perforatum)

St Johnswort (Hypericum perforatum)

  • We are a small-scale, sustainable nursery guided by the principles of permaculture.
  • Our 2 1/2 acre farm is home to a unique range of habitats, including open field, woodland edges, wet meadow and woodland, and mixed hardwood forest.
  • By using permaculture principles, and also taking advantage of the naturally diverse growing preferences of medicinal plants, we have been able to grow our herbs in their ideal natural habitats, producing exceptionally healthy and medicinally potent stock.
  • Most of our offerings are hardy, field-grown stock, 2-3 year old individuals with well-developed root systems.  We sell many of our annuals by the 6-pack.  Our biennials are typically the first year plants.
  • We Ship!
  • We operate seasonally and sell our plants in the spring. Orders* are accepted by pre-order only. Orders are due by April 15th and picked-up at the farm. 2016 Pick-up days are Tues 5/24, Thurs 5/26 & Sat 5/28 from 10am-4pm. *PLEASE NOTE: We are not taking retail orders for the 2017 season
  • We are members of United Plant Savers, and have a huge commitment to medicinal plant conservation and sell many of the woodland medicinal plants listed on the UPS "To Watch" and "At Risk" lists, grown ethically and sustainably right here on our farm
  • We never use chemicals, herbicides or pesticides on our farm or on our land.

Medicinal plant conservation is a poignant topic in our modern world.  Here in Massachusetts we have seen the near-extinction of many important woodland medicinals due to over-harvesting, such as American Ginseng, Goldenseal and Black Cohosh just to name a few.  Part of our mission Milk & Honey Herbs is to create a sanctuary of threatened medicinal herbs, and also offer organically and ethically grown plants (especially those on the United Plant Savers  “To Watch” and “At Risk” Lists) so that folks can create their own herb gardens at home, comunity garden plots, porches, and beyond- contributing to local and planetary biodiversity.
