*At Risk
Regal shade garden plant that will also tolerate sun as well.  Strong anti-spasmodic used in low doses for headaches and tight and injured muscles, particularly in the neck and spine.  Helps ease the hormonal ups and downs of menopause.  Currently at-risk of over harvest in the wild so growing this plant is an act of medicinal plant conservation.  Beautiful, reaching 5 ft in height under ideal conditions, flowering with gorgeous white spikes July-August.  Northeast native, growing the dappled, part shade sunlight of hardwood forests.  Although it prefers part shade it still can be successfully grown in full sun.  Ideal conditions are part-shade, and moist, rich soil.  Top dress with compost or forest duff.  Hardy perennial to Zone 3.
